Amazing Line

Alumilite | 2021

The Amazing Line is Alumilite’s craft line. They are sold in multiple countries, both online and in stores. You can find The Amazing Line at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or at select Walmart’s. The products consist from epoxy to mold making materials. I updated the Amazing logo and lead the rebranding of all their line.

10 Products. Over 150 Moving Pieces.

  • Boxes.

While each product has its own purpose, they are a family. When a consumer sees the whole Amazing Line on a shelf, they should recognize right away that they are related. So, I created a system. The products name is the most important information, so it is large and bold. There are two statements about the product near the name, one vertical and one horizontal. All photos must bleed off the edge of the box. The side panels and the back panels are built on a grid that is used across all the products. The back of the box includes written instructions, illustrated instructions, and photo examples of crafts that the product can make. There is a chart on the left side panel that compares different products. The right side of the box is reserved for the warnings and warranties.

  • Labels.

Most products come in two parts. One part labeled ‘A’, and one part labeled ‘B’. I created a system that helps consumers easily tell the two sides apart. The top of each label is a full bleed color that runs across the whole label. The color of the ‘A’ side is the color of the box, while the color of the ‘B’ side is the secondary color of the copy by the product name. Having the two-color system makes it easy to quickly tell the difference between the two parts. On the back side of the label, in the colored section, are some important call outs. Including: the mix ratio, work time, demold time, and time needed to fully cure. The call out is laid out exactly like how it’s on the left side of the box. The bottom half of the labels include: instructions, net volume, warnings, and disclaimers.

  • Dual Language.

Alumilite is an international company, which means labels and boxes must meet the country it’s being sold in compliance laws. Canada is a large consumer of Alumilite’s products. Quebec, one of Canada’s provinces. They are predominantly French speaking therefore requiring all products to include English and French. Neither language can take up more prominence than the other, meaning they need to be the same size. Along with the additional copy, Canadian products also require warning icons large at the front of labels. I started the dual labels and boxes before delegating them to a freelance designer. The compliance team and I worked closely with them to ensure quality and correct work.

Product Chart.

On the Left panel of the boxes is a product comparison chart. The columns are a list of products, and the rows are quality of the product. There are X’s in the spaces that apply to the product. The column that the product is, is highlighted with a different color.

Products for Canada must include both English and French.

Epoxy Starter Kit.

Alumilite’s Amazing Epoxy Starter Kit is a contains two bottles of casting resin, 6 measuring cups, six stir sticks, two gloves, and four mica powders. This kit is great for beginners.

The two gallon kits have the largest labels at 4”x10.75”. These labels are broken down into three columns.

Some of the Illustrations I created for the boxes and 4”x10.75” labels.

Alumilite’s Casting and Molding Trays

Alumilite’s Casting and Molding Tray Molds are versatile molding trays that are ideal for crafting custom molds for castings of all kinds, from ornaments and game pieces to filigree. Each Kit contains multiple molds inside a plastic clear box. While the trays are just under Alumilite, not the Amazing line, I wanted to include them here, since the are for the average crafter.

I created these infographics to help consumers quickly visualize how many molds come in a set, along with their sizes.
